Meet Red Maple

Our Story

Red Maple began because of a memorable day in the life of our Principal and Founder, Raechel:

One day, in a particularly dark and confusing year of my life, I found myself at a large bookstore looking for answers to a hot mess of problems, when I stumbled my way into insight. It went like this:

"Life is difficult. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths. It is a great truth because only once we truly see this truth, do we transcend it. Once we truly know that life is difficult – once we truly understand and accept it – then life is no longer difficult."

That little gem, from Dr. M. Scott Peck, ended up being one of a few "mind-blown" moments in my life, causing me to forever reframe my expectations. It taught me to stop struggling against my difficulties and, instead, to start rolling with them. To transcend them. And I desperately needed to learn that lesson, at that particular time of my life.

That was also the day my love affair with deep work, and a company that knew how to do it, first began. I decided that I would attain the skills I needed to support people in becoming whatever they must be in their lives. And that was where your story and Red Maple's started mixing.

We represent a team of people that are the best there is in the field of personal and professional development. But there is one thing I cannot stand, which is 3-point checklists or other insufficient solutions to the problems of our day. Around here, we cheekily refer to cheap fixes as “pablum.” Red Maple’s work is deep, and sometimes complex. We look forward to working with clients that want just that on the road to improving their lives, relationship and businesses.

Our Values

At Red Maple, in all our coaching and consulting, we hold to our values, paying attention to the people in all we do.

Dignity

We believe in people; that everyone is of value and should experience being valued.

Discernment

We believe in deep work. While the presenting problem might be easiest to notice, there is always more beneath the water line, and we seek to do our work in this deep place.

Movement

We believe work can be done beyond our minds, but in our whole beings. We seek to move conversations from simply theoretical to practical, tangible, and embodied.

Community

We believe the real potential lies in how we can all be better together, not anyone of us alone. The prioritization of community is the most powerful resistance to the loneliness epidemic.

Our Space

Our beautiful head office is located in Waterloo, Ontario. We'd love to welcome you in person.
