Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

"Build a life worth living." That's DBT's mantra. DBT is a rapidly growing offshoot of CBT that helps you stabilize your highly emotional experiences like anger, low self-worth, or panic. DBT focuses on four key areas: 

  • Mindfulness and Presence: externalizing our thoughts and feelings, and getting "out of our heads" 

  • Distress Tolerance: learning to work through hard emotions without sabbotaging ourselves (or others)

  • Emotional Regulation: learning skills that reduce pain and lashing out

  • Interpersonal Effectiveness: learning relationship skills that work to make our lives brighter
